Energizer Recharge C Batteries 3.7 5 7 7
I love being able to recharge the batteries, finding a place to throw out the used batteries. I love the idea of having rechargable batteries. It is getting more and more difficult to find places that would take the old used up batteries. It is to bad, there is not a process that can recycle the old batteries for profit. January 26, 2013
Totally not worth it We have a swing that takes 4 C batteries which we had to replace once a week. We tried the energizer rechargeables and they didnt even last 3 hours. I would not get these for your swing!!!! July 21, 2012
Don't last long I have used Energizer batteries and another brand. The other brand lasts much longer. I bought a new Energizer charger just for these batteries, and the other brand charges and they don't. Disappointed. I'll buy another brand. May 28, 2012
Rechargeable "C" Batteries Have been using the same rechargeable batteries for 1 1/2 years and they are still going strong. May 2, 2012
saves money this product is great for saving money when you have 11 grandkids using batteries all the time thanks for the product January 13, 2012
This is a good product. Energizer Rechargeable Batteries are a good value. They would rate much higher if they held their charge longer, as I have to recharge them often without much use. Because they have to be recharged often, they do not last as long after each recharge. So you have to replace them more often. I have found that I can not recharge them more than five or six times without replacing them. However, they are a good product at a reasonable price, I buy them at the local Dollar General, so that replacing them isn't to bad. December 23, 2011
Brings things to light! This C-batter pack is a great one to have for things like flashlights and children's toys. Good value, and durable, and lasts forever! December 21, 2011

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. We recommend using the batteries that the device calls for. All of the NIMH rechargeable batteries are 1.2v, we no longer manufacture the NICD batteries. If you device strictly calls for NICD batteries, then that is what you need to stick with. I do apologize for this inconvenience.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. The D&C NiMH batteries will have less capacity than a similar sized alkaline battery. However, the many cycles (charge / discharge) that can be obtained from NiMH batteries can make them advantageous over time compared to a single use alkaline battery.

I see in a previous question you answered various retail stores including Lowes and Home Dept. Neither of those stores carry the C size Recharge batteries so please update you list. The only store I have been able to find them at was Walmart and I was not able to buy the quantity I needed. Please update the list and hopefully there are now more retailers carrying this size.

Thank you for your great question. Though the stores in your area may not currently carry the C batteries, all of the stores you listed do have them online. Retailers to check for the C rechargeable batteries would include Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Target, and Sears. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. Regarding our NIMH rechargeable batteries, it really depends on the type of device you are using. For example if you are using these batteries in a high drain device (typically the C/D cell NIMH batteries are being used in more higher drain devices) they will drain down the battery faster and would require another charge, the more you charge the more it will reduce the longevity of the battery, which will reduce the amount of charge cycles. Hope this is helpful, if you have additional questions on this please contact our consumer affairs office at 1-800-383-7323.

Why are these just AA batteries in a shell?

Why are these batteries, just like your rechargeable D batteries, simply AAs in a larger shell? No, NiMH batteries have a similar charge density to alkalines. There are many NiMH D batteries that boast 120000 mAh, 10000 mAh being the norm. Many C NiMHs are 5000 mAh (notice that charge capacity increases roughly exponentially with each battery size with base 2). The question is not "bang for your buck" rechargeables vs. alkalines. The question is why will you not make C and D sized batteries that are true C and D sized batteries? There are many on the market. The only advantage to having a much lower charge capacity is the recharge time, otherwise what you are doing is almost deceitful. You are selling AA batteries for a higher cost.

I am not bashing your products. I own 8 rechargeables made by you guys and they have lasted years and they hold their charge very well. I'm asking why you guys will not make true, 5000 mAh C batteries and 10000 mAh D batteries. Alkaline capacities are about 1250, 2500, 5000, and 10000 mAh for AAA, AA, C, and D batteries respectively. Don't give me the nonsense "alkalines don't use mAh measurements"...that's silly. Batteries hold charge. Accessible charge varies depending on current but that goes with any battery.

I have devices that use Cs and Ds, but since you refuse to make true Cs and Ds, I can't justify buying them when I could just use a small magazine and use AA batteries in place of Cs. They are the same length. What is your rationale, other than faster charge time, for this decision that you guys have been very rigid about despite many stories on the internet regarding this practice of yours?

Thank you for this great question and your feedback, I would be happy to assist you. D size rechargeable batteries have historically used a smaller internal unit cell. The main driving force behind this design is to keep the battery affordable to the average consumer. High capacity rechargeable batteries are more expensive than our standard rechargeable D size battery due to the increased volume of materials needed. In addition, they require a higher capacity charger to deliver acceptable recharging times which are also more expensive. Our research indicates that the high upfront cost for high capacity rechargeable batteries and special charger would discourage many users from trying these batteries.

Clearly a high capacity D size NiMH battery would be beneficial in certain applications but we have found that the market for this type of battery is minimal due to overall cost. Energizer will continue to evaluate this market and look for a cost effective opportunity for higher capacity NiMH batteries.
