Energizer Recharge D Batteries 4.5 5 52 52
Simply a small cell in a type D-shaped shell The battery provides merely 2500mAh capacity, identical to mainstream recharge AA batteries. The battery can be easily opened because the shell of the battery is simply a plastic case. Inside the case there is a MUCH SMALLER battery cell. So you are paying 3 times the price of a AA recharge battery for something giving the same performance. Just don't buy it. May 17, 2013
Not what I expected Bought 6 D batteries to use in our daughters baby swing so we would have 2 sets. Very disappointing barely operates swing when they are fully charged throw in rayovac alkaline batteries and the swing runs like a champ. Checked the voltage on fully charged batteries and they only measure 1.355v compared to 1.61v for the rayovacs. Then I notived the small print on the battery that said 1.2v since when is a D battery anything but 1.5v. March 24, 2013
batteries are horrible I bought them for my cuddeback game camera. I put them in the camera. Nothing. Put them on charge and tried again. Still nothing.. worst $22 ive ever spent. March 18, 2013
Not For a Baby Swing! My baby loves his swing and we use it often. I was having to buy batteries every 2 weeks, so I thought the rechargeable batteries would be more convenient and possibly save us money. Wrong. They last for one day of use. So frustrating to have to charge them every day and make sure to have a spare set to swap out while they charge for 14 hours. I can't believe I wasted so much money on them. =c( January 13, 2013
Rechargables have been around for decades Starting using rechargables back in the 70's but back them there was not a lot of uses for them. So I did not use them as much. Now forty years later I have battery operated everthing. I am tired of buying, using, and throwing away or recylcing such a large number of batteries each year. I have replaced all my aa,aaa batteries in 2012 and am replacing all my D and 9 volt in 2013. They will not work in everything in the home (read your equiptment instructions before you buy). I would NEVER use them on life safety devices such as smoke detector or carbon monoxide detectors. I recommend the universal charger, works great for all sizes. December 10, 2012
This product did not meet my expectations. I used alkaline "D" batteries in a Primos Game Camera and got 2 weeks tops so decided to get rechargeable. These Energizer D2 lasted 3 days. When fully charged they show 70% on startup. Not what I expected. November 27, 2012
Very suitable for electronics The actual DC Voltage output from these energizer recharge batteries is just below the nominal 1.5 of a standard lead/acid (actually 1.2 NH15 rate) but it maintains that voltage for a longer period of discharge time whereas a standard or even Calcium begins to drop from the first discharge point in a decreasing slop/rate over a shorter distance in time than the Energizer Recharge does. Plus, once charged, the shelf life is very good. October 8, 2012
Love the fact that they are rechargeable If I could change one thing, the charge would last longer. June 14, 2012

Capacity

What is the voltage of a single battery? What is the capacity of a single battery in mWh? How much of this capacity is dischargeable? Can multiple batteries be strung together and charged with a solar charge controller like the Sunforce Digital 30A?

Answer:
Great questions. I asked our technical team and their answer follows.

The voltage of a rechargeable battery will typically be between 1.4 and 0.9 volts. We do not generally rate rechargeable batteries in mWh. The mWh of a battery will typically be approximately 1.2 X the mAh capacity. The total mAh capacity is usable if a low cutoff voltage is used (for example, 0.9 volts per cell). Raising the cutoff voltage (for example, 1.1 volts per cell) would allow for battery capacity to be left unused. Multiple NiMH batteries can be connected in a series string. You should check with the manufacturer of the charger for its capabilities.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. Regarding our NIMH rechargeable batteries, the longer they sit idol, they will deplete their charge between 1/2%-1% per day. Depending on how long they sit they might have to be charged up a few times in a row to get them back to their full mah capacity. They typically do have a 5 year shelf life.

Essential difference between your AA and D

It appears to me that your AA and D cells are of similar ratings. Would it be safe to assume that your D cells are in fact AA cells in a D encapulation

Answer:
Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. At one time Energizer did manufacture a 2500mah AA battery, we have stopped manufacturing them. Now we have 1400/2300 mah AA batteries, they may be a lower mah ratting but they offer a lower self discharge rate. They will also hold their charge for up to one year. and will maintain approximately 70% to 80% of their original capacity. The AA's are not cell in a D encapulation. It just happened to be the same mah back in the day.

Why is the top of my battery green

I have the recharable batteries and 4 are 1400 mah and 2 are 2500 mah. The 2500 ones are green on top and the others are white. Does that means something.

Answer:
Hi Dana, thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. Depending on the size of the batteries, the 1400 are the new AA Recharge Universal. We have 2500mah for the AA/C&D cells, if you are referring to the AA batteries those are older ones and are no longer being manufactured. Energizer is always making improvements on the products; the change in color is due to the older batteries.
