Energizer Recharge Smart Charger 2.5 5 87 87
No reliability I bought two of these 2 years ago and neither has ever worked correctly. I phoned Energizer and they gave me a hanful of tips to try, but nothing works. Sometimes they will accept to charge 2 batteries but that is very rare. Most of the time I can not get them to work. I haven't lost my faith in Engerizer but this product appears to have flaws that can not be fixed. June 12, 2013
Great I have charged different kind of rechargeable batteries (even of different brands), with no problem. I have used it since one year. June 8, 2013
Charged once, won't charge again The first time I charged the included 4 batteries it took a way longer than 8 hours. It kept showing 8 hours for around 3 hours, then got stuck again at 6 and so. After charging, it didn't last half as long as regular batteries from Energizer. The second time I tried to charge the batteries, the charger said that two out of the 4 batteries were dead. And I thought "Lets buy the most expensive charger we can find". Totally disappointed. Won't buy energizer again. May 21, 2013
No Good I just bought a Smart Charger today. I put in batteries to charge. The directions say it will show 5,4,3,2, or 1. Mine is showing an 8. Then, after a few hours, I had x's in all batteries on the display. But they are Nickel-Hydride batteries. I don't understand. And when I checked the batteries, they're all charged, but the charger said they were bad. I think I'll bring it back & get my money back. May 10, 2013
BAD BAD WORSE I spent $50.00 for the Charger with a starter set of batteries and an extra set of batteries. Nothing works. Chargers does not charge, batteries won’t hold a charge. Read the directions over and over, nothing works. Do not buy. April 19, 2013
Excellent I've used this product for over two years with no problems. Worth every penny. April 3, 2013
Will not Hold AAA Batteries This unit spits the AAA Battieries out everytime I plug it in. I thought I was buying the Best Charger. Turns out it will only Hold AA Battieries. Not worth the Money!! March 27, 2013
poor I have an number of AA everready rechargables. I have had lithium, NIMh and Nicad over the years. Never had much luck with any of them. I assume the cheap chargers don't have the best circuitry in them to properly condition and charge but not overcharge the batteries. Or maybe it is also the batteries. March 25, 2013

single battery/odd numbers?

can the Energiser 'recharge' smart charger charge individual or odd numbers of rechargeable batteries.

I understand the need to keep the same set of alike batteries working together but have a number of devices which use odd battery numbers and have chargers which do not allow me to charge a single battery or 3 batteries at a time etc.

thank you for your consideration in advance

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. Regarding our CHP4 smart charger, it requires charging batteries in pairs, so you may only charge 2 or 4 batteries in this charger. I see you also mentioned Alkaline; this charger is NOT designed to charge Alkaline batteries only NIMH 1.2v rechargeable batteries. I do apologizer for this inconvenience, if you are looking for a charger that will charge odd number of batteries please look into our rapid charger CH15MN2.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. We do no recommend leaving the charger plugged into the wall or the batteries to be stored in the charger. For safety reason, it is always important to unplug the charger after each and every charge. The charger is not designed for storage of the batteries; it is common to store the batteries like you would any other battery.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. This charger is a duel voltage charger so yes; it will work over in India. As long as you use a wall outlet and unplug after each and every use, you should not have any issues.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. If you are noticing a flashing light or "x" on your charger this could mean many things. Please see if the following apply.

Charging different MAH numbers in charger
Charging different brands at the same time
Charging NICD batteries vs. NIMH
Old batteries (over two years old) check the manufacture date on the battery.
Dirty contacts (easy clean, take pencil eraser to contacts in charger, top and bottom)

If you still have issues with the flashing light please contact our consumer affairs for further assistance.

Answer:
The red 'x' means that the battery needs to be replaced or is the wrong time. Only NiMH batteries should be charged. Alkaline, Lithium, Carbon-zinc types are all disposable and not meant to be recharged.

Why won't certain batteries recharge?

I've had this charger about a year now.. and recently it won't charge some of my batteries (i have 12 total). Sometimes the red x flashes, sometimes the whole top display flashes, and still other times it will charge just fine. It isn't any specific batteries, the older ones actually do better. It is very frustrating when I put batteries in to charge, and later on when I need them they aren't charged at all. The are all energizer recharge

Answer:
The charger will test the batteries prior to charging. If the charger determines there is a bad battery, it will not charge. NiMH batteries have a shelf life of 3 to 5 years. If the batteries are in this range, we recommend purchasing replacement batteries. If the batteries are less than 3 years old, please call our customer service department at 800-383-7323.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. When it comes to our NIMH rechargeable batteries, if they are not the "pre-charged" batteries, they will deplete their charge from 1/2-1% per day if they sit idol. Depending on the type of device that is being used, it could drain the battery down much faster as well. Our new 1400 mah AA batteries and 700 man AAA batteries are now "pre-charged" they will hold their charge for up to one year after a full complete charge.

We do recommend charging the batteries the first time you purchase them
