HELP! Hi, i bought this product but i lost my handbook. Can someone explain to me how to charge AAA batteries in this?? March 3, 2012
useless product tells me my batteries are no good and need them to be turfed. they seem to work fine when i use my old charger March 1, 2012
Used it once! Charged 4 AA NiMH batteries once. When I came to recharge them it informed me they were ALL "bad" batteries! From what the manual says this therefore means the batteries need to be "disgarded" after one charge! I bought them two weeks ago! Useless piece of RUBBISH! February 25, 2012
Terrible charger Looks flashy, but.............. Cannot charge batteries of same type, brand, and mAh, but of different charge levels. When are all the batteries in our modern world as flat as each other?....one maybe from a torch and another pair maybe from a game boy?? The long and short of it is some will be more discharged than others, and this charger cant deal with it. It keeps telling me my batteries are full, but when i put them in a different high quality charger they accept another few hours charge before automatic shut off. Not really very intelligent. Come on energizer make a really smart charger with individual charging and status on each battery??????.....its obvious?? February 23, 2012
They were dead when I bought them I bought them and they were dead. They took 8 hours to charge. Imagine the sadness in my 4 year old son's eyes when he found he couldn't play his game, because the new batteries mommy bought needed to be charged before use. I emailed Energizer immediately, but I wasn't worth a response. Save your money, or go with a different brand. February 2, 2012
Lasted one charge & never worked again Absolutely terrible product. I purchased this charger brand new & managed to use it just once before it died & never worked again. It seems that there are quite a few issues with this charger simply dying for no reason. Stay away from this charger, my advice is to buy the basic charger, they seem to last longer (more than one charge anyway) January 22, 2012
This product is cost effective & versatile Since my digital camera runs through AA batteries multiple times with each use, I found this device very cost effective, as I can charge up to four batteries, which saves money and allows me to have spares on hand. My charger also charges both AA and AAA batteries, which makes it not only economical, but versatile, as well. I know it is already saving me alot of money in disposable batteries, as I like to take a lot of photos. In addition, it is a "greener" solution for me, as I don't like having to buy and then throw away so many batteries. January 16, 2012
product is great I bought these because of some video games that my daughter received for christmas. I simply love the fact that I can just keep using the same batteries. January 8, 2012

single battery/odd numbers?

can the Energiser 'recharge' smart charger charge individual or odd numbers of rechargeable batteries.

I understand the need to keep the same set of alike batteries working together but have a number of devices which use odd battery numbers and have chargers which do not allow me to charge a single battery or 3 batteries at a time etc.

thank you for your consideration in advance

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. Regarding our CHP4 smart charger, it requires charging batteries in pairs, so you may only charge 2 or 4 batteries in this charger. I see you also mentioned Alkaline; this charger is NOT designed to charge Alkaline batteries only NIMH 1.2v rechargeable batteries. I do apologizer for this inconvenience, if you are looking for a charger that will charge odd number of batteries please look into our rapid charger CH15MN2.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. We do no recommend leaving the charger plugged into the wall or the batteries to be stored in the charger. For safety reason, it is always important to unplug the charger after each and every charge. The charger is not designed for storage of the batteries; it is common to store the batteries like you would any other battery.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. This charger is a duel voltage charger so yes; it will work over in India. As long as you use a wall outlet and unplug after each and every use, you should not have any issues.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. If you are noticing a flashing light or "x" on your charger this could mean many things. Please see if the following apply.

Charging different MAH numbers in charger
Charging different brands at the same time
Charging NICD batteries vs. NIMH
Old batteries (over two years old) check the manufacture date on the battery.
Dirty contacts (easy clean, take pencil eraser to contacts in charger, top and bottom)

If you still have issues with the flashing light please contact our consumer affairs for further assistance.

The red 'x' means that the battery needs to be replaced or is the wrong time. Only NiMH batteries should be charged. Alkaline, Lithium, Carbon-zinc types are all disposable and not meant to be recharged.

Why won't certain batteries recharge?

I've had this charger about a year now.. and recently it won't charge some of my batteries (i have 12 total). Sometimes the red x flashes, sometimes the whole top display flashes, and still other times it will charge just fine. It isn't any specific batteries, the older ones actually do better. It is very frustrating when I put batteries in to charge, and later on when I need them they aren't charged at all. The are all energizer recharge

Answer:
The charger will test the batteries prior to charging. If the charger determines there is a bad battery, it will not charge. NiMH batteries have a shelf life of 3 to 5 years. If the batteries are in this range, we recommend purchasing replacement batteries. If the batteries are less than 3 years old, please call our customer service department at 800-383-7323.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. When it comes to our NIMH rechargeable batteries, if they are not the "pre-charged" batteries, they will deplete their charge from 1/2-1% per day if they sit idol. Depending on the type of device that is being used, it could drain the battery down much faster as well. Our new 1400 mah AA batteries and 700 man AAA batteries are now "pre-charged" they will hold their charge for up to one year after a full complete charge.

We do recommend charging the batteries the first time you purchase them
