Energizer Recharge Universal Charger 3.4 5 28 28
apparently junk This hasn't been used more than 4 times and has already crashed. And I bought two of these. I put an outstanding review on Amazon and have to go back and change that. I think the batteries are subpar also. I have a bunch of them. (2 grandkids) I go through batteries like a 3 year old eats m&m's. I am swithching to eneloop. December 21, 2012
multiple size rechargeable battery station and batteries Nice to find a recharger that charges aaa,aa,c,d, batteries, but the charger only charges about 75% of capacity. I then must put them into the quick 15 min. charger to get a full charge. The price was fair but am highly disappointed with the QUALITY of the rechargable batteries. Unused, the power is gone after a week. Witnessed the continual decline of energizer battery's longevity and power strength and will go back to a previous brand that is outperforming energizer . November 26, 2012
Very universal What I love about this product is the fact that it covers all sizes of batteries and has a safety lid. June 13, 2012
This is the best for parents of young kids This will charge many battery sizes (AAA, AA, C, D). This comes in so handy when you have kids and all their battery operated toys and baby gear. The only downside is that this hard to find in stores. June 13, 2012
This product has Great features A Great product I always trust an Energizer for Me. May 17, 2012
very good device This is a small and convenient way to charge rechargeable a batteries while on a trip. It charges in a reasonable amount of time. May 2, 2012
It was nice but not worth the extra $$$ It cost more than the other chargers and really didn't do much more. I would have liked it if it could charge more batteries at a time. May 2, 2012
Doesn't work I've bought two of these and the green light only came on once, on each one, the first time I used it. After that, the green light wouldn't come on and it would not charge. A wasted $40 . April 11, 2012

What does the Bad Battery light mean?

I have a pair of AAA Eneloop batteries in the charger. After charging for a while, the Bad Battery light starts flashing. The batteries seem fully charged and there's nothing obviously wrong with them. So what is the Bad Battery light indicating?

Since energizer's battery chargers are designed to recharge energizer's battery, eneloop batteries can be mistaken as bad battery. :(

Answer:
EnergizerTim, the batteries appear to be good. They're both charged to 1.37V.

How does the charger decide that a cell is bad? These are Eneloop batteries, Sanyo's low self-discharge (LSD) brand. According to Wikipedia, LSD cells have lower capacity than regular NiMH. Is it possible that the charger is detecting that and concluding the battery is bad?

Answer:
Thank you for your great question. If the charger is showing the bad battery icon then that means that there is a bad cell in the charger and discontinues the charging process. You may want to try to charge another set of batteries as the ones you have may not be able to charge anymore. Hope this helps. Any additional questions, let us know here or give us a call at 1.800.383.7323.

Can it charge 1 battery at a time?

Does this charger require you to charge in pairs or can you charge 1 battery individually (in relation to sizes AA, AAA, C, D)?

Answer:
The manual for this charger specifically states charging currents for 1-4 AA batteries, therefore I would guess that it would accept anywhere between 1-4 AA/C or D batteries, It also specifies that it may take 1/2/3 or 4 AAA batteries.

I would guess that the first answer (the one that actually uses the device, not the one that commented without reading or using) would be more correct than the other one.

Answer:
Yes, I have charged on mine which holds 4 AA or AAA one or three or whatever number up to 4 at a time. My Canon takes 4 AA so I just have two sets I rotate out.
The charger will blink red if the battery is wonky aka the connections are flipped, the connections are dirty or if the battery has reached the end of its life. Green = go!
This is the instruction set for my 4-15 minute charger that may be helpful:

Answer:
I've never had a problem sticking one battery in to charge alone. My 15 minute holds 4 and yeah I've definitely been able to charge in any number I please.
However, if the instructions say only in pairs, then only do it in pairs. And be careful of your mah battery specifications!!
It will blink red if it can't charge just one battery or if the battery connection is bad or if the battery is incapable of chargine aka dead.
Also, if it specifies in pairs, stick one of the previously charged batteries in with the dead one and go that way. It will only charge the ones needing a charge ^.^
Here are the instructions I found for my 15 minute charger that may be helpful:

Answer:
Thank you for your great question! Both of these products are very good chargers but there are a few differences. The Universal charger has a 6 hour maximum charge time where the Universal Value charger has a 16.5 hour maximum charge time. Another difference is that the Universal charger can charge up to 8 AA or AAA batteries at a time and the Universal Value charger can only charge 4 AA or AAA batteries. However, the Universal Value charger is able to charge 2 9V batteries where the Universal charger can only charge 1 9V. Hope this helps. Any additional questions, please let us know here or give us a call at 1.800.383.7323.

I tried charging some old NiMH batteries and some were bad. Now, when I try charging new Energizer Universal AA, the same bad battery state returns, even after removing power completely, and despite inserting brand new batteries.
