Same Issues I bought a unit and used it twice; thinking it was user error, but the light never changed from red to green and never powered off even after the second time. The batteries were hot and I was worried. I returned the unit and batteries back to the store and exchanged it for an identical item thinking the one unit may have been defective... but my new unit is not functioning properly either. I plugged it in this morning at 9AM and its now 2:35 in the afternoon and the light has not changed to green. The unit is near my desk, so I have had my eye on it all morning... no changes. Batteries are warm to the touch. I'll be returning it for a full refund. :-( March 6, 2013
Charger does not work properly. Having purchased a different Energizer Charger approx. 4 yrs ago that still works, I was comfortable with buying this product..,I was wrong. Brought this home from the store, immediately opened the package and started charging the batteries at about 5 pm. The light is still solid red at 9 am. This unit seems to have several "glitches" according to other reviews. I'll be returning it today. March 1, 2013
Great Investment I believe this product to be a good investment because normal batteries are expensive and don't last, so I am saving money over time. Also, this product included four rechargeable batteries. I plugged it in over night around 8pm and it was fully charged by the time I checked it the next morning, around 8:30. The light indicators were working properly and the instructions were simple... Plug it in. I am actually looking forward to purchasing another set to minimize charge time for additional batteries. February 24, 2013
Won't charge Bought this product yesterday morning. Did not use the batteries before charging. I "charged" them from about 1pm yesterday until 6 am today and the batteries are still not charged. The red "charge" light never went out during all that time. When I finally unplugged the charger this morning 3 of the batteries were hot and one was stone cold. I have had this happen previously with a couple of Energizer chargers and just threw them out. Wanted to try again but was very disappointed. By the looks of other reviews this is not an isolated incident. Poor product. February 24, 2013
did not get green charge indication after 18 hrs plugged in charger waited 14 hours charger still indicating chargering when instructions state it should hav taken 5hrs well were at 18hrs and still says charging.never used batteries started charging strait out of package. February 17, 2013
Stopped working I used the charger once and when I went to use it again, I plugged it in to the wall outlet and no lights, nothing... January 27, 2013
Would not work out of the box I purchased this product for my nephews vtech e-reader. Right out of the box the batteries were not charged enough to turn on the device. I charged them overnight and put them into the reader that night after I came home from work.Again the device did not turn on. I finally tried regular alkaline duracell batteries and the device turned on right away. I did try the Energizer rechargeable batteries in my wireless mouse and they worked just fine. It looks like they don't work well to run on a high energy mobile product. December 22, 2012
both green flashing lights Recently purchased at walmart. model# CHVCM3. happy with price and unit appearance. came with four AA NiMH batteries. Tried charging four AA rechargeable batteries. Are out of lawm LED solar lights. Batteries are labelled "solar lights". Thru research on the web, am told that there is no such thing as a "solar battery". Is this true? both green lights flash immediately with these four solar batteries installed. Will only charge supplied batteries if a problem. Any input greatly appreciated. An energizer user for many years. Will close and watch for reply. Thanxxxxxxxxx October 17, 2012

Thank you for your great question! Blinking indicator lights mean that there is a bad cell or bad battery in the charger. I would recommend replacing the second set of batteries you tried to charge, as those seem to be the problem. Hope this helps. Any additional questions, let us know here or give us a call at 1.800.383.7323.

Thank you for bringing this up, I would be happy to assist you. Regarding this charger, if you are receiving blinking lights, there are many things that could cause the lights to blink.
Old batteries (over 2yrs)
Mixing the MAH numbers
Mixing brands
Dirty contacts (easy clean, take pencil eraser to top and bottom contacts of charger)

When batteries are charging the lights should be a solid green, when it is completed the lights should shut off. If none of the above applies, please contact us and we can offer some solutions. 1-800-383-7323

Again thank you for contacting us with this situation.

I just opened the package and have been told opposite theories on re-chargeable batteries. One - you should use them out of the package until they die, then re-charge and Two - you should charge them before first use. Which is correct?

Excellent question, I would be happy to assist you on this. When it comes to our NIMH rechargeable batteries, regardless if they do state "Pre-Charged" we do recommend charging them up before first use. This will provide the best performance.

Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns.

Green Light - Solid & Blinking

The owner's manual does not explain these issues. When the batteries are being re-charged, the light is solid green. When the batteries are fully charged, the green light goes out. When the batteries are being charged and the green light is blinking, the batteries are bad. Are these statements correct? Thanks !!!

Thank you for these great questions, I would be happy to assist you. Regarding this product, When the light is a solid green that indicates the charge is completed, when the light is red it indicates the batteries are being charged, when the red light is a rapid blinking that indicates a bad battery or charger. Please feel free to contact our consumer affairs office with any additional questions regarding this charger.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. When it comes to storing batteries, we typically recommend removing the batteries from the charger and placing them either in the original packaging or container stacked side by side (not lose).

Answer:
Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. Regarding our NIMH batteries, it will depend on what MAH number you have. We have new 1400mah batteries, once they are fully charged they will hold their charge for up to one year (85-95%) when not being used. If the MAH number is different, they will deplete their charge from 1/2 % - 1% per day when they sit idol. You will be able to find the number located on the battery right below the size on the top of the battery.

extremely hot. Is this normal or is the 2300mah too much for the value charger?
Energizer® Recharge® Value Charger

The 1300mah batteries don't even get warm when charging. Is there a problem charging the higher mah batteries
