Answer: 
Many drug stores carry a wider variety of these types of batteries than most other retailers, including the 389. While distribution varies from store to store, one national retailer that carries the Energizer 389 battery on a daily basis is Walgreen's. You may want to check with them if there's one close by.

Can a 389 battery be used instead of a 189?

An electronic book toy takes two AG10/LR54 button type batteries. We bought two 389 batteries since we have been unable to find the equivalent battery. Can you tell us if the 389's would work? Or, where we could find 189 batteries near zipcode 46038? Thanks!

Yes, while not an exact match, the 389 cell would be a suitable replacement for the 189 in most devices, including toys. The two you purchased should work. As for the 189's, unfortunately Energizer does not manufacture that type, so we wouldn't be be able to help you with tracking one down in your zipcode. Sorry.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. Regarding the 389 battery, that has dimensions of 11.6mm for diameter and 3.1mm for height. The 386 battery has the dimensions of 11.6mm and 4.2mm, that battery would be too big for what you are looking for.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. After doing some research it is showing that the replacement for the 389A would be the 389z battery. The dimensions for the 389A battery are 3.05 mm for height and 11.6 mm for diameter. The 389z battery is 3.1 mm for height and 11.6 in diameter.
