Answer: 
Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. This Glow Stick has 3 different modes, pressing down once will turn on the flashlight portion at the top of the light, pressing it again will light up the stick, pressing it one more time will cause this stick to flash.

Thank you for this great question, I would be happy to assist you. To remove and replace the batteries, you want to unscrew the top part of the light (follow the arrows) inside the cap will be a small screw, remove the screw and that will get you into the 3 batteries.
