Change Your Clock Change Your Battery®
Welcome to the Change Your Clock Change Your Battery® information center. Here you will find everything you need to participate in the 2010 Change Your Clock Change Your Battery program.
For the 22nd year, the International Association of Fire Chiefs ("IAFC"), Energizer, and our network of 6,200 fire departments have partnered on the Change Your Clock Change Your Battery program to remind communities nationwide of the life-saving habit of changing the battery in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors when they change their clocks back to Standard Time.
While it may seem like a simple and easy habit to remember, 20 percent of homes in the United States do not have a working smoke alarm, mostly due to dead or missing batteries, according to the National Fire Protection Association. Therefore, over 25 million homes are even more at risk of facing a deadly home fire. Sadly, about 540 children ages 14 and under die each year from a home fire.*
This year, the fall time change takes place on Sunday, November 1. Please use the tools below and join us in sharing this potentially life-saving information with your local community members and media.
Participation is easy and free. Simply download the Change Your Clock Change Your Battery tool kit and inserts for suggestions on implementing the efforts in your local community and building awareness through the help of local media and business partners.
The tool kit contains great community outreach tools:
- Change Your Clock Change Your Battery coloring and activity sheets handouts for school visits
