Energizer Keep Safe. Keep Going®

Welcome to the information center. Here you will find everything you need to participate in the 2010 weather preparedness program.

For the past 22 years, the International Association of Fire Chiefs ("IAFC"), Energizer and our network of more than 6,200 fire departments have worked tirelessly to remind communities nationwide of the life-saving habit of changing the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.  This weather preparedness program encourages families to prepare ahead of time for whatever Mother Nature might send their way.  The weather safety program launches in conjunction with the first day of spring on March 20 and runs throughout the summer months.

We know that all too often home fires are ignited by candles used for light during a power outage. This is a dangerous and disturbing trend that could easily be avoided by encouraging people to use flashlights and battery-operated and other battery operated lighting devices instead of candles when the lights go out. The preparedness initiative continues throughout the summer to provide hurricane safety information to encourage communities to stay prepared for this weather-related disaster.

The message is simple. We’re urging families to stay prepared for blackouts during severe weather situations by preparing emergency power kits that include flashlights for every member of the family, battery-operated radios, portable cell phone chargers and extra batteries.

Please use the tools below and join us in sharing this potentially life-saving information with your local community members and media.

Participation is easy and free. Simply download the tool kit and inserts below for suggestions on implementing the efforts in your local community and building awareness through the help of local media and business partners.

The tool kit contains great community outreach tools:

·         Coloring and activity sheets for school visits

·         Ideas for events such as fire department open houses

·         Press release templates to send to your local media

·         Program logos and artwork for newsletters and outreach to local businesses

·         Banner order form

Click the links below to download the tool kit and handouts. So everything prints properly, depending on how your print options are set up, you may need to make sure your Page Scaling is set to “Shrink to Printable Area.”  To do so, with your document open, click on file at the top of your screen, scroll down to print and a window should pop open for you to select your print scaling options.

If you have questions, special needs or would like word documents of the sample letters please call the Energizer Keep Safe. Keep Going® Hotline at 314-727-5700, ext. 108 or e-mail: keepsafekeepgoing@blickandstaff.com.
