Safety Quiz
If your clothes catch fire, stop, drop, and roll - until the fire is extinguished
Get out of the burning structure
Check closed doors for heat before you open them: use the back of your hand to feel the top of the door, the doorknob, and the crack between the door and door frame before you open it
If the door is hot, do not open it; exit through a window
If the door is cool, open slowly to ensure the escape route is not blocked
If the route is blocked, shut the door and use an alternate escape like a window
If the route is not blocked, leave immediately and close the door behind you
If you cannot escape, hang a light-colored sheet out of a window to alert fire fighters to your presence
Crawl low under smoke; heavy smoke and poisonous gases collect first along the ceiling
Close doors behind you as you escape to delay the spread of the fire
Once you are safely out, call 9-1-1
