  • Listen to a NOAA radio, broadcast radio or television for information
  • Move immediately to higher ground
  • If you must evacuate, secure your home, bring in outdoor furniture and move essential items to an upper floor
  • Turn off utilities if instructed to do so
  • Disconnect electrical appliances
  • Do not walk through moving water; you can fall or be swept away
  • Do not drive into flooded areas; you and the vehicle can be quickly swept away, if you encounter water covering the road, turn around and find an alternate route
